Tonight marks Black Veil  Brides’ first show in Dublin since 2011 and the crowd can barely contain themselves. But first on stage is DJ duo Drama Club. The twosome bang out their set of super high energy dance music for about half an hour. The only positive thing to say about their set is the fact that they are so into it, but their woeful remixes of popular songs are cringeworthy. They’re trying to be Skrillex, which is a strange sentence to say.

Thankfully, it can only go up from here. Fearless Vampire Killers give an enjoyable set, during which time the front men get the crowd going and they’re singing by the end of their set. The band have put on a show that suggests that  they will not be supporting bands for much longer. After a brief re-appearance from Drama Club, final warm-up act metalcore band Attila from Georgia bring tonight’s heaviest set, and although it has a tendency to sound a bit monotonous, they cannot be accused of being boring to watch.

Black Veil Brides take to stage with their slightly stripped down appearance (compared to how they used to look), each member with huge stage presence. The crowd is deafening at this stage and they quickly  turn those high-pitched screams into the lyrics of the band’s songs. It is so refreshing to see a band with  this ‘look’ and attitude be so smiley, so happy and so appreciative of their fans. Throughout the set, with songs like Coffin, Perfect Weapon and especially closer Fallen Angels getting the crowd singing so loudly, Black Veil Brides give their fans the same love that they’re getting. Frontman Andy Biersack even takes a moment to make a speech about self-harm, without sounding like he’s preaching. It sounds like he is just genuinely concerned for the welfare of these fans, often impressionable young teenagers.

Biersack’s vocals are on point, the only pity is that at times they’re too quiet. However each member is given a moment to shine, with drummer CC’s solo, guitarist Jinxx playing violin and perhaps one of the stranger elements… Ashley Purdy’s Niall Horan-esque headpiece so he can walk around stage and play guitar and sing at the same time.

The band might not be awe-inspiringly groundbreaking, but they do what they do well. They make their fans happy and continue to evolve as musicians and performers. Tonight’s show was an overall success and Black Veil Brides have proven that they deserve the success they are getting.
